Steven Forman Promoted to Senior Vice President
Strategic Management is pleased to that Steven Forman has been promoted to Senior Vice President. “We are extremely pleased to promote Steven to this new position after his recent return to Strategic Management. He was among the founders of the Firm in 1992 and assisted in its first ten years of development. Our professional association stretches back to the days together in the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General. Over the years he has grown into a nationally recognized expert in developing, implementing, evaluating, and upgrading compliance programs, for clients large and small. We are so pleased to have him in the leadership of the firm,” said Richard Kusserow, CEO of Strategic Management and former DHHS Inspector General.
Mr. Forman rejoined Strategic Management one year ago as Vice President, and has been working principally out of the Boca Raton, Florida Office. He had previously worked for ten years the Vice President, Internal Audit and Compliance for New York Presbyterian Hospital. In that capacity he was responsible for the Internal Audit, Compliance, and HIPAA Privacy programs for the largest acute care provider in New York State. His office provided services to the “flag ship” hospital system and 10 sponsored hospitals and their related services and operations. “I was eager to return to my old firm and work with old friends again. Through my experience in working at one of the largest and most prestigious hospital systems in the country, I was able to add to my understanding of the compliance challenges facing the health care provider community today. I have been able to bring that experience to our firm’s clients in a way that would not have been possible without that additional outside experience. It has permitted me to acquire new insights into managing the types of problems facing our client. This promotion will enable me to extend that experience to a wider range of clients,” said Forman.
The scope of Mr. Forman’s responsibilities include developing and implementing compliance programs; financial/legal fact-finding; assessing organization vulnerabilities and risks; focused analyses and operational reviews; implementing effective monitoring systems; testing internal compliance controls; developing/delivering compliance education and training programs; and working with senior management/Boards in developing strategic plans. He has also acted as a designated compliance officer for clients. His extensive experience includes audit planning, conducting reviews and ensuring audit resolution; assisting clients in negotiating the terms of Corporate Integrity Agreements (CIA) with the OIG; performing Independent Review Organization (IRO) reviews for organizations under CIAs; and developing programs to evaluate and test internal compliance controls. Mr. Forman previously served as the Director of the Division of Resource Management and Operations for the DHHS Office of Inspector General and prior to that he was the Executive Director of the National Association of Government Accountants (AGA) and the Deputy Controller for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
