Deanna S. Callahan is a seasoned healthcare compliance and legal professional with more than 30 years of experience helping healthcare organizations navigate complex regulatory, operational, and governance challenges. Ms. Callahan serves clients as an Interim Compliance Officer and trusted compliance advisor, providing experienced leadership to organizations facing complex compliance challenges, regulatory scrutiny, organizational change, or compliance program turnarounds. She works closely with boards of directors, executive leadership teams, and operational stakeholders to evaluate compliance program effectiveness, identify areas of risk, and implement sustainable corrective action strategies that strengthen organizational integrity and regulatory compliance.
Previous Work Experience
Prior to joining Strategic Management Services, Deanna S. Callahan held executive compliance and legal leadership roles across a broad spectrum of healthcare organizations. During her tenure at Accessia Health, Ms. Callahan led compliance efforts during the organization’s Corporate Integrity Agreement and served as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel. Ms. Callahan also directed compliance, legal, operational, and risk management functions while at Virginia Eye Institute and Home Care Delivered, Inc. She also served as Vice President of the Legal Department for Greenbrook TMS, where she developed physician contracting and compliance onboarding processes designed to support regulatory compliance and operational consistency.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Callahan provided legal and compliance leadership for organizations including McKesson Corporation, Sibley Memorial Hospital/Johns Hopkins Health System, Washington Hospital Center, and the United Network for Organ Sharing, where she oversaw compliance, privacy, quality, risk management, and regulatory oversight activities. Across these roles, she advised boards and executive leadership, managed HIPAA privacy and compliance programs, directed internal investigations and audits, and guided organizations through accreditation reviews, regulatory scrutiny, and significant operational change. This diverse experience enables her to bring practical insight and proven leadership to organizations seeking to strengthen or transform their compliance programs.
