Professional Experience
Josephine Nelson Harriott is an experienced compliance professional, counselor and litigator. Ms. Harriott is frequently engaged by our clients to undertake the Interim Compliance Officer or Interim Privacy Officer roles while the organization seeks a permanent replacement. During her time as an Interim Compliance Officer or Privacy Officer, Ms. Harriott evaluates the effectiveness of the client’s compliance or privacy programs, respectively, to identify areas of opportunity and improvement. Ms. Harriott is experienced in compliance program development, implementation, evaluation, and management.
Previous Work Experience
Prior to joining Strategic Management, Ms. Harriott worked at Howard University, first as health care attorney in the Office of the General Counsel, then as Compliance Officer for Howard University Hospital. She was previously an associate at a Washington D.C. law firm where her practice focused on employee benefits, civil litigation, and internal investigations. Before graduating from the Howard University School of Law, she had a successful career in leadership roles in the health care and government contracts arenas.
Ms. Harriott has written and spoken on issues related to government contracting, health care reform, and women’s career development. She is former President of the Greater Washington Area Chapter of the National Bar Association Women Lawyers Division, Board Member of the National Bar Association, and Officer for the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia.
