Professional Experience

Angel Hoffman is a compliance and ethics consultant with over 30 years of experience in health care compliance. Through her decades of experience, Ms. Hoffman has conducted a range of compliance services that includes privacy and security risk assessments for meaningful use, engagement with legal counsel on OCR, OIG and DOJ matters, operating and managing fiscal responsibilities for clinical and non-clinical areas, regulatory analysis and compliance training. Ms. Hoffman has worked in a variety of health care settings including hospital, physician practice, long-term care, laboratory and durable medical equipment supplier and manufacturer. Through her consulting engagements, Ms. Hoffman provides services to help compliance officers face the challenges encountered in the complex health care regulatory environment.

Ms. Hoffman’s experience with the business and administrative sides of health care, in conjunction with her clinical expertise, provides her with a unique perspective and understanding of health care compliance. Ms. Hoffman uses her blend of knowledge and experience for strategic and tactical planning as it relates to compliance and corporate accountability, hospital operations, internal investigations and problem resolution.

Ms. Hoffman is an industry-recognized expert and is a frequent presenter at industry conferences, including the International Association of Privacy Professionals Global Privacy Summit, National HIPAA Summit and the Academic Medical Center Privacy and Security Conferences. Additionally, as a Register Nurse, Ms. Hoffman has served as a clinical instructor for Community College of Allegheny County Level II and Level III students.

Previous Work Experience

Prior to joining Strategic Management as a Compliance Specialist, Ms. Hoffman held multiple operational management roles in hospitals and served as Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer for a physician billing company. Most notably, Ms. Hoffman served as the Director of Corporate Compliance at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) where she directed and managed the corporate compliance and HIPAA programs. During her tenure, she was responsible for development, implementation and management of the HIPAA Program Office, which served as the central office for HIPAA Privacy, HIPAA EDI and HIPAA Security for UPMC entities. Under Ms. Hoffman’s leadership, the HIPAA Program Office achieved national recognition for its HIPAA privacy efforts and best practices.
